Debra Kay Marcrom McCullough, age 69, of Tullahoma, TN, passed from this life Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in Tullahoma.
Mrs. McCullough was born in Manchester, Tennessee, to the late James Denton Marcrom and Mary Jenkins Marcrom Cooper. A proud member of the Coffee County High School Class of 1974, she was active in the school band before continuing her education at Middle Tennessee State University, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education and was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She devoted 34 years to shaping the lives of countless students through her work in both general and special education. Her teaching career began at Coffee County Middle School, continued at Robert E. Lee Elementary School, and East Lincoln Elementary School, where she retired after years of faithful service. Even in retirement, her passion for education remained evident as she continued serving as a substitute teacher.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. McCullough found great joy in serving as an Elder at Hillsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was an enthusiastic Disney and Harry Potter fan who treasured family vacations to Walt Disney World with her husband and loved ones. While in high school, she generously volunteered at a summer camp for adults with disabilities, reflecting her compassionate spirit and lifelong dedication to helping others. She also served as a candy striper at the local hospital. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially attending the sporting events of those she loved. Her beloved pets, Cooper and Minnie, also held a special place in her heart and brought her much happiness throughout the years. Mrs. McCullough will be remembered for her kind heart, her unwavering devotion to her Christian faith, to her students and family, and for the joy she brought to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by step-father, James Rogers Cooper.
Mrs. McCullough is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jerry McCullough; daughters, Laura Campbell (Lee) and Amy McCullough; sister, Mary Beth Marcrom Marchesoni (John); grandchildren, Nicholas Gage Rollins and Kayleigh Campbell; nephew, Denton (Kayla) and daughter, Sophie; several other nephews, nieces, and extended family; long time friends, Glenda, Joy, Cheryl, Carol, and Kathy.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 3, 2026, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm with funeral services following at 3:00pm at Central Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Hillsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.
