According to reporting from Nick Beres at News Channel 5, Marvin Parker, a 66-year-old from Shelbyville was found dead in Normandy Lake on Sunday, March 8.
Beres reported that game wardens with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) responded on Sunday, March 8 to a report of a possible missing boater on Normandy Lake.
A family member had spotted Marvin Parker’s unoccupied vessel that day and called 911 to report him missing. Parker’s family and friends had not heard from him since he went out on Normandy Lake on Friday, March 6 to fish and place fish attractors in the water.
While first responders were on the lake investigating, a fisherman in a nearby creek reported discovering a body. Responders recovered the individual and positively identified him as Parker.
Parker was not wearing a personal flotation device (PFD) at the time of the incident.
This is the second boating-related fatality on Tennessee waterways for 2026, and the incident remains under investigation.
