Tullahoma City Schools has named Dr. Renee Flowers as the new principal of West Middle School, effective July 1.
Flowers will take over for Cindy Herrera, who is retiring after serving as West Middle School’s principal for eight years.

Tullahoma City Schools is excited to announce that Dr. Renee Flowers has been named the new principal of West Middle School, effective July 1.
“I am deeply honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve the students, families, teachers and staff of West Middle School as the new principal,” Dr. Flowers said. “I look forward to bringing my experience, passion and commitment to helping others grow, succeed and shine. It is truly a privilege to support and lead West Middle School.”
Dr. Flowers will be taking the reins following the retirement of current principal, Cindy Herrera, who has been principal at WMS since 2018. Dr. Flowers started with Tullahoma City Schools in July 2006 and has served in various roles. She entered TCS as a fifth-grade teacher at Bel-Aire from 2006-2012, before returning to The Hive from 2016-2018 as a fourth-grade teacher. In July 2018, she moved to the high school as a Lead Teacher in part of the ninth-grade transition program. Since 2021, Dr. Flowers has served as an assistant principal at Tullahoma High School.
As Tullahoma City Schools is looking ahead to the 2026-27 school year, the new TCS Director of Schools, Dr. April Norris, said she is ecstatic to have Dr. Flowers at West Middle School. Back in 2016, Dr. Norris was the principal when Dr. Flowers returned to Bel-Aire Elementary School.
“Having hired her when she came back to Bel-Aire, it feels like a full-circle moment to watch Dr. Flowers’ growth over the years,” Dr. Norris said. “Dr. Flowers has an in-depth understanding of pedagogy, a passion for enhancing teaching and learning and she maintains high expectations for every student, faculty member, and staff member. Dr. Flowers will bring a fresh perspective to West Middle School, drawing from her experience in the Renaissance program, which emphasizes culture-building, student engagement and academic achievement through structured incentives and celebrations. Her ability to identify areas of need, combined with her confidence in making intentional decisions, will serve her well in her role as principal.
“She is an articulate communicator who will foster strong connections within the school community and encourage parental involvement in school events. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for the students, faculty and staff at West Middle School.”
