On Monday, April 13, the Estill Springs Police Department issued the following statement:
“On April 11, 2026, the Estill Springs Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle-related accident involving a juvenile at Estill Springs City Park.
“Upon arrival, officers, along with fire and emergency medical personnel, determined that a 10-year-old child had sustained injuries after being struck by a vehicle. Preliminary findings indicate the child’s feet were run over by a Ford F-250.
“Witness statements indicate the child was attempting to cross the roadway near the concessions area when he entered the path of the vehicle’s front driver-side wheel.
“The child was airlifted to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt for medical treatment. At this time, the child is expected to make a full recovery.
“The Estill Springs Police Department conducted an on-scene investigation and determined there was no evidence of criminal negligence or wrongdoing on the part of the driver.
“This incident remains under routine review. The Estill Springs Police Department reminds the public to exercise caution in park areas where pedestrian and vehicle traffic may intersect.”
