During VFW Post 10904’s monthly meeting Monday night, Raymond Lewis was presented the VFW Department of Tennessee Veteran of the Year Award.
Last year, Raymond Lewis received the coveted Post Commendation Award as the top-performing member of VFW Post 10904. Lewis has participated in nearly every program, project or event the Post has hosted. He also supervises preparation of over 100 tax returns each year, at no cost, for area residents.
The Post also awarded the Military Support Award to Connie Janosek for her work in locating, clearing, restoring, and honoring those interred in the long-forgotten Reynolds Cemetery in Hillsboro.
The Post earned its 8th consecutive VFW National All-American Post Award, given annually to VFW Posts meeting the highest standards and program goals set forth by the VFW National Commander. Posts achieving All-American status are considered the very “Best of the Best”.
The Post also earned its 9th consecutive VFW Department of Tennessee All-State Post Award, given annually to Tennessee Posts meeting a set of high standards prescribed by the VFW Department, or State, Commander.
Additionally, the Post earned its 6th VFW Department of Tennessee Community Service Award, given to the VFW Post that has been involved in the community to the highest extent: including organizing events, coordinating projects and programs, as well as providing assistance to veterans and their families.
