This week is School Board Appreciation Week, and local schools are showing their appreciation to school board members in various ways.
Tullahoma City Schools posted the following on its Facebook page:
It is School Board Appreciation Week, and TCS is thankful for our fantastic school board members! Since they do so much for our students & staff, we thought it would be fun to take a look back at when each member was a senior. What a good-looking group! Thank you, board members, for all that you do for TCS!
A post by Manchester School district posted the following photo with the caption, “We are thankful for the wonderful leaders on our school board! Happy School Board Appreciation Week!”
Coffee County Schools posted the following photo with the caption “Thank you for your hard work and dedication to Coffee County Schools!”

January 25–31, 2026, has been designated School Board Appreciation Week in
Tennessee, and Bedford County Schools (BCS) is proud to join school districts across the state in celebrating this occasion and recognizing our local board members for their dedicated service to BCS students and educators.
This year’s theme, “Local Leadership, Lasting Impact,” highlights the important role school boards play in shaping the future of public education. School board members champion student success, advocate for strong schools and govern with the needs of their communities at heart.
As elected leaders, they serve as the local voice in public education, helping guide the direction and long-term vision of our schools.
“It takes strong leaders to build a strong community, and our board members devote countless hours to ensuring our schools help every child learn and achieve at higher levels,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tammy Garrett. “The school board’s primary goal is to support student success.”
To fulfill that mission, the board focuses on key priorities, including:
- Establishing a clear vision for the district and placing student achievement at the
forefront; - Setting strategic direction to help all students reach their highest potential;
- Monitoring progress to ensure goals are met and learning expectations are achieved;
- Fostering a safe, healthy and positive environment for students and staff;
- Building partnerships throughout the community to address shared challenges; and
- Committing to continuous improvement through reflection, evaluation and refinement
of practices that impact student success.
“While we are making a special effort to honor our board members during the last week of January, we appreciate that their dedication extends throughout the entire year,” Garrett added.
BCS is proudly served by the following board members: Dr. Andrea Anderson, 6th District; Mrs. Shanna Boyette, 8th District; Mr. David Brown, 1st District; Mr. Michael Cook, Chairman, 5th District; Mrs. Lana Craig, 4th District; Mr. Brian Crews, Vice Chairman, 2nd District; Mr. Glenn Forsee, 9th District; Mr. Dan Reed, 3rd District; Mr. Barton Williams, 7th District.
The district encourages students, families, staff and community members to join in thanking our school board members for their leadership, service and commitment to the success of every student.
Bedford County Schools is a district of sixteen schools committed to the academic and personal success of each child and serving over 8,700 students.
