The summaries, prepared by Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti pursuant to Tennessee law, are intended to help voters better understand each proposed amendment before Election Day. “Providing voters with accessible information about proposed constitutional amendments is an important part of ensuring a well-informed electorate,” said Secretary of State Tre Hargett. “Each Tennessee voter should review the three constitutional amendments before Election Day so they can make informed decisions when they vote.”

“Taking a few minutes to learn about the proposed amendments before heading to the polls can help voters feel confident and prepared,” said Tennessee Coordinator of Elections Mark Goins. “We encourage voters to review the summaries, familiarize themselves with the amendments, and make a plan to vote on November 3.”

In Tennessee, a constitutional amendment must receive more “yes” votes than “no” votes and must also receive a number of “yes” votes greater than one-half of all votes cast for governor in order to become part of the Tennessee Constitution.
